Netflix - World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals
After my husband and I purchased Casa San José in 2016, we certainly believed that we owned one of the most beautiful properties in one of the most amazing cities in the world, but now we have proof… Casa San José was selected to be part of the hit Netflix series “World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals” and is featured in the “Weddings” episode of Season 2 released on September 14.

San Miguel De Allende Wedding | Amazing Vacation Rentals
UNESCO World Heritage site, is the ideal destination wedding location. The town is filled with beautiful colonial buildings, gorgeous old churches and event venues that can accommodate most any size wedding. But it is the fun and festive Callejoneada that really seals the deal. It’s a mouthful to pronounce, but it’ll prove to be among the most authentic San Miguel experiences you'll ever enjoy.
The city hosts over 700 weddings annually, and the prelude to almost every ceremony is a callejoneada, a parade in which the wedding party wanders through cobblestoned streets with their own mariachi band accompanying them. Giant mojigangas—Papel Mache Puppets, created to resemble los novios, towering 10 feet in the air and dancing wildly—visually announce the callejoneada. An adorable burro, adorned with colorful paper flowers usually joins in the procession, too. The spirit is contagious, even watched from the curb.
It was these processions, that series Director George Verschoor saw in pictures of a friend’s wedding that first sparked his desire to visit San Miguel. Later, when the series was in the early stages of development, he tasked his team with finding a home to include in the series’ wedding episode. The team’s research led them to Casa San José and after one look at the website and the wedding photos included there, he was sold! And, as luck would have it, George happened to call me while my husband and I, along with a houseful of friends, were getting ready to host a wedding for our dear friends Bruce & Will during Dia de Muertos. George and I were both so excited about the serendipity our conversations that day that we were determined to make it all happen—no small feat when considering an international shooting schedule, our existing bookings and a global pandemic—but happen it did!
And, for the record, some of the show’s cast and crew just didn’t get enough of our amazing casa during their stay for the shoot. Host Luis Ortiz stayed on at Casa San José for nearly a month after the series wrapped production.
Luis said, “After one year on the road and visiting 48 properties, Casa San José was the perfect place to relax, unwind, recuperate and work on other projects. The staff is so warm and friendly, it started to feel like home. It was really hard to leave.”
George will also be traveling back with a group of friends and family to stay at the casa in early 2022. George said, “We visited 48 properties while filming the first two seasons of this show but Casa San José is where I want to return. It’s the place I want to bring my friends and family.”
Throughout the series, the cast & crew often spoke with one another about their experiences as travelers and, despite the number of extraordinary and luxurious places their travels took them, George said they all agreed with him on this point: It’s not the bed you sleep in, it’s the experiences you have while traveling that truly matter. And he added, “Casa San José delivers it all, though: a beautiful place to rest your head but it also delivers an experience unlike any other. Staying there, you feel transported to another time and way of life.”
We’re here and ready to help with that transport. ¡Nos vemos pronto!
